Privacy policy

Rip & Rate is an independent app run by Curtis Couture. It collects as little as it can, and what it collects is used only to run the app. No ads, no tracking, no analytics companies, and nothing is ever sold.
Browsing
You can browse the map and read reviews without an account. When you do, the app asks our server for the bathrooms in the area of the map you're looking at. Your device's location is used on the device to center the map and sort bathrooms by distance; it's never sent to us or stored.
Your account
To add or rate a bathroom, you sign in with Apple. Apple gives us a unique identifier for you and, if you choose to share it, an email address, which may be one of Apple's private relay addresses. We store those to keep you signed in. We don't ask for your name, and the app doesn't use it.
Your account gets a generated display name, like "Flusher-4821", which you can change. We also record when you agreed to the terms.
What you post is public
Bathrooms you add (name, location, address and any access note), your ratings, reviews and amenity tags are shown to everyone, next to your display name.
What stays private
Reports you make and people you block are visible only to you and, for reports, to our moderators.
Where it's kept
On a server we run with DigitalOcean, behind Cloudflare, which handles the connection to it. Server logs record IP addresses and the requests made, for running the service and preventing abuse, and are rotated away after a short time.
Deleting your account
In the app, go to Profile, then Delete Account. That deletes your account, display name, ratings, reviews, reports and blocks straight away. Bathrooms you added stay on the map, without your name, because other people's ratings belong to them. Deleted data can remain in our backups for up to 90 days, after which it's gone.
Children
Rip & Rate isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
